About GCSA
Who we are
The Gulf Coast Safety Alliance is committed to bridging the gap between public safety professionals and the communities. We believe that the first interaction with emergency responders should not occur during a crisis, but well in advance, through education and collaboration. By directly engaging with experts, we ensure that critical safety knowledge reaches the public effectively.

To fulfill this mission, we provide educational programs, community workshops, and host the largest safety festival in the United States, focused on emergency preparedness and safety awareness. Our initiatives are designed to equip individuals and families with the essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies. By connecting safety professionals, local organizations, and community members, we aim to build a culture of vigilance and readiness.

Join us in our mission to make Texas a safer place to live, work, and thrive. Together, we can empower ourselves and our loved ones with the tools and knowledge necessary to confidently face any challenge.
Our History
The Gulf Coast Safety Alliance (GCSA) has its roots in a local safety festival that began in Katy, Texas. In 2016, the Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department sought a unique way to engage with their community and devised the idea of hosting a small festival in a movie theater parking lot. This event, known as the Katy Area Safety Fest, quickly gained momentum.

In 2021, the Katy Area Safety Fest transitioned from being affiliated with a specific agency to becoming its own independent non-profit organization. Governed by a board of directors composed of first responders and safety professionals from across the region, the festival continued to expand its impact. By 2024, it had grown to attract over 8,000 attendees and featured nearly 100 participating agencies and safety-related non-profit organizations. Following the 2024 event, the board took steps to broaden the organization’s reach beyond just the festival, leading to the establishment of the Gulf Coast Safety Alliance.

Today, while the Lonestar Safety Fest remains our flagship event, the GCSA is committed to making a lasting impact year-round. Through educational outreach in schools, partnerships with community organizations, and hands-on training, we bridge the gap between public safety professionals and the public. Our mission is to strengthen these vital relationships, ensuring that communities are better prepared, informed, and connected to those who serve and protect them.
